First Transition Meeting

Pete and I took the girls to Early Steps for their first meeting in preparation for school. We meet with their advocate and a member of the school board to discuss what needs to happen before the girls start school when they turn three. They will need to have a hearing test, a phsycological evaluation, get caught up on their shots and have a Goals meeting about three weeks prior to their birthday. They provide half-day and full-day services...most likely at Edgewater Elementary. I told them that I was worried about transportation since Connor will be going to a different school. They will provide bus transportation for they girls, so we'll need to work that out. They will continue to receive OT, PT, and ST until they go to kindergarten. I'm so excited to see them be able to socialize with other children. It's a little scary, since they are still very dependant, but that's what the teachers and aides are there for. Now I'm waiting to get Bree's wheelchair processed by the insurance company so the equipment company can start assembling it. We're hoping Paige will be able to use her walker independantly enough to not need a wheelchair. Before I know it I'll be all alone during the day...doesn't seem real!

When one child qualifies for need based services, you can apply for a variance so all your children can go to the same school. Then they either all get picked up together, or you could bring them all to the school that offers the services. I don't know if you would want to move Connor, but it is something that is often done.
